Introducing BharOS: India-Made App Taking on Android & iOS

Android and iOS dominate the mobile operating system market. However, countries are exploring alternatives to these operating systems. There are concerns over privacy and security. And a desire for greater control over their technology ecosystems. The latest addition to this list is BharOS Operating System– an indigenous OS made in India.

BharOS is considered a giant leap forward in the Indian mobile OS market. It was developed in response to the Indian government’s push for a self-reliant India. It is designed to meet the needs of India-based users. It will handle sensitive information securely and confidentially.

BharOS: Designed for Digital Businesses

BharOS is being developed for use in organizations with stringent data security requirements. It can provide access to private cloud services through private 5G networks. It is expected to be cost-effective and open-source. It comes with a user-friendly interface and multilingual support.

  • Native Over the Air (NOTA) updates for automatic installation of security updates and bug fixes

  • No Default Apps (NDA) setting for greater control over the apps on the device

  • Private App Store Services (PASS) system for examination and curation of safe apps

How Will BharOS Be Different From Android and iOS?

BharOS has been designed with Indian users in mind. It aims to differentiate itself from Android and iOS in several ways:

Made in India: BharOS is an indigenous operating system developed in India to meet the specific needs of the country.

Focus on security and privacy: BharOS will be a safer option for users concerned about data protection.

Cost-effective: BharOS is intended to be a low-cost alternative to Android and iOS, making it accessible to a broader range of users.

Customization: BharOS can be customized. This is a feature not possible with Android and iOS.

Technical differences: BharOS is built on a different architecture and codebase than Android and iOS, offering unique features and capabilities.

The developers of BharOS believe these unique selling points will give it an edge over the incumbent OS platforms in the Indian market. However, it remains to be seen how bharat operating system will perform in the market. And how it will compare to Android and iOS in terms of user experience, app availability, and market penetration.

Who Is Behind the Development of BharOS?

So, who are the brains behind this operation? A 30-member team at JandK Operations (JandKops) developed BharOS. It was incubated at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras.

The team consists of experienced coders and tech-savvy professionals from all over India. They are passionate about making technology safer and more accessible to Indians of all age groups.
